Hi Mary I just caught up on your blog and have to admit that I am the person that you referred to in your South Dakota Story. It has been so humid in San Diego lately making the bike rides tough for oldies like George and I. I am now officially scared to death about what I have got myself into. I don’t understand cadence at all. Perhaps you can give me a quick lesson opn Tuesday night. Seriously we are very excited about next week. I have met so many teanmates who are riding and received so much support that it is truly gratifying. I’ll see you in Florence. Gina

    Hi Mary,

I’m pleased to report that my training is going great: I’m up to 40-plus miles and am planning a 50 miler tomorrow. It’s been hot as Hades in Virginia with humidity. I’ve sweated about ten pounds off. My bike computer (second one I’m on) is at 430 miles so altogether I’ve biked about 750 miles getting ready. I may not be the fastest cyclist in the pack but I’m definitely happy and proud to be going. The best part is that I exceeded by fund-raising goal of $2,000 by getting $3,070 to the TRUST.
YIPPEE!!! Thanks for your blog: you’re doing a great job! See ya Tuesday!

It Works!!! Doing what you are doing to raise awareness. I am a teacher at the middle school in Collinwood. The students staying in our After-School program watched as you rode in to our sleepy little town. The students had a million questions about who you were and how you got here and why you were riding the Trace. I did not know the anwsers to any of their questions so we went back inside to the computer lab. We spent an hour reading about DaVita, kidney disease, we read entries on this blog. The students were enlightened and impressed with your contribution. Our whole town took notice. Keep up the good work.
